Fans Impress In Final Weekend Of The Season

Nationals fans came out in droves for the "meaningless" final few games of the 2014 Washington Nationals season. And like Nats fans often do, they came out dressed up, with clever signs, and ready to go crazy for the upcoming playoffs.

Nationals Fans Welcome Division Champs Back From Road Trip

Unfortunately for Nationals fans, this season the Nats clinched their division championship on the road. While the team celebrated in Atlanta, fans celebrated all across the DMV, but it just wasn't the same. Fans wanted to show the team in person how they felt. So that is probably why there were dozens of fans waiting outside of Nats Park for the team to arrive home from their road trip on Sunday night (after sweeping the Marlins).

So here's what happens when Nats fans show the team how much they care...

Yeah Baby. The New Nats Pitching Mantra Growing

I'm not sure where the whole "Yeah Baby!" thing started, but after a very interesting Matt Williams trip to the mound with Doug Fister earlier this week, Nats fans have taken and ran with the old 1997 Austin Powers made-famous phrase.  During that mound pow-pow, Williams said he asked Fister if he wanted to face the next batter, to which Fister replied with the new catch phrase. And every game it grows.

Gnomes Are Taking Over Nats Park

Well it is happening. What our ancestors have predicted thousands of years ago. Gnomes are taking over Washington DC! SAVE US ALL!!!!!!

After a huge Jayson Werth Garden Gnome giveaway, gnomes have been growing by the day at Nats Park. Fans are dressing up, wearing beards, wearing gnome hats (this guy even had Jayson Werth tug on his gnome beard). Pretty soon the entire ballpark will be overrun.

Dodgers Sunbather Greatest Thing Ever

If you were watching yesterday's marathon Nats vs Dodgers game (and hanging out on Twitter) you probably saw the sunbathing Dodgers fan chilling shirtless in the bleachers down the first base line. The guy was so visible that it looked like Nats Pitcher Jordan Zimmermann even took a quick peek from the mound before an inning.

Later in the game, after the original sighting, a Dodgers fan at the game posted the ultimate photo of the guy. This may be the greatest baseball fan photo of all time. Check it out.

Newseum Publishes Braves? Fans Botched I Hate The Nats News Story

The Newseum has a "thing" where you can stand in front of a green screen with a microphone and live out your dream of being on the network news. One of the options you get to pick is sports, and since the museum is in DC, you get a scripted Washington Nationals story. Well, after watching several of the videos, it appears this attraction may be unattended because several of the videos published to the Newseum - Be A Reporter YouTube page are people not knowing how to do it.

Well a couple guys decided that their news story would be that they hate the Washington Nationals (Braves fans?), and of course because they have no #Natitude, they couldn't figure out how to work the machine.  Here is the video of them trying to be funny and failing.  GO NATS!

Fan In Chicago Welcomes Bryce Harper To Wrigley

The following video comes to us from Wrigley Field.  As Bryce Harper runs out to his position in the outfield in the Nationals game against the Cubs, one fan screams out a horrible "zing" about Bryce Harper's mother.  The crowd around him seemed to not mind.  I'm not gonna type the exact phrase here, you can listen in the video below, NSFW.

Nats Fan Faceplants, But Gets The Foul Ball

This was hilarious.  A fan was going after a foul ball, jumped up to get it, and ended up landing face/chest first on the seats.  It looked like it hurt pretty bad but the Natidude (as FP calls them) gets up and celebrates his new prize.  One of the fans who got a bat earlier actually tries to hit the baseball with the bat too. The fan makes the catch and hangs on after his jaw smacks the seats. Check out the GIF.

Meet Finn.  Finn is 8 years old and is a huge Washington Nationals fan.  Finn loves going to games and even gets to go down on the field before games sometimes.  Oh...did I mention that Finn is a dog?

Washington Nationals Fans Sing Sweet Caroline, Sort Of

On the Monday following the Boston Marathon bombings (5 days ago), the Washington Nationals returned from a road trip to take on the St. Louis Cardinals at Nats Park.  Early in the game, much like other Major League teams, the organization opted to play the Red Sox classic in-game song, Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline, in honor of those hurt or killed in the terrible events in Boston.

Sage & Sacrifice: Nats Fans Look To Ancient Rituals & Rubber Chickens To Heal Team (With Video)

As the church bells rang in the noon hour, it was time for the ritual to begin.  A man reached into his giant goodie bag and yanked out an oversized knife and a bright yellow rubber chicken.  By his side, a younger woman pulled out an old lighter from her jacket and a bundle of sage.  Had anyone happened to walk by they might have thought something nefarious was going on.  However, the actions of the two individuals were far from perfidious.

Mets Fans Chant At Strasburg "Harvey's Better"

On Friday night in New York, a highly anticipated pitching matchup was going in the favor of Matt Harvey of the Mets.  Stephen Strasburg just gave up 2 homeruns in the 6th inning giving the Mets a 4-0 lead.  At that point, the 26,000 fans at Citi Field banded together and chanted loudly at Stephen Strasburg.

My Journey That Was Opening Day At The Half Street Fairgrounds (Bullpen)

I was having a rough day.  I woke up late, I forgot to finish some work from the day before, and by the time I was on the metro and headed towards DC I was already late.

My original plan to meet up with friends in Eastern Market was now out of the question due to the time, and I only had 1 option: Go to the Half Street Fairgrounds, or as I will always call it, The Bullpen.

If you are unfamiliar with what The Bullpen is, it is a giant asphalt lot surrounded by shipping crates.  That pretty much sums it up.

This abandoned parking lot features a stage for live music, about 20 beer stands (with a crappy selection of Miller Lt distributor only products), a few tents, some beanbag games, a food truck or 2, and just a bunch of open space.  The crowd is supplied by the Washington Nationals.

As I fought my way through thousands of people to escape the dungeon known as the Navy Yard Metro, I headed towards a giant clump of people which appeared to be a line, although it was more like Kindergarten Cop's class before Arnold got his whistle (BAM TAKE THAT REFERENCE!).
