Jimmy Rollins Respects Michael A Taylor's Arm On Throw From Center
DC Sports Nexus ---- Wednesday, August 12, 2015
With Denard Span out of the lineup, Michael A. Taylor has earned his way into the everyday center field position. On Tuesday night in a loss against the Dodgers Taylor had the chance to show off his arm to the LA crowd. With a runner on 2nd Taylor scooted under a deep fly ball and fired a strike to third base to hold an impressed Jimmy Rollins at 2nd base. After the throw Taylor and Rollins shared a moment as the veteran gave the youngster some props for his toss. Here's how it looked in GIF form.
Gio Swings, Gio Misses, Gio Falls, Gio Wins
DC Sports Nexus ---- Tuesday, August 11, 2015
During Gio Gonzalez's latest pitching victory against the Dodgers he had a very comical plate appearance. The pitcher took a huge cut at a Zack Greinke pitch and his body twisted as he fell down to one knee. Here's Gio falling and his reaction to the situation:
Bryce Harper Tries To Break Bat On Knee, Fails
DC Sports Nexus ---- Monday, August 10, 2015
Bryce Harper and his knees are having a lot of trouble lately. Bryce just missed an important game against the Dodgers after hurting his often hurt left knee on a diving catch in the previous game. The day before he had some trouble with the other knee after popping out in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runners on base and a chance to win the game. He was so frustrated with the out he decided to try to break his bat over his knee. He slammed the bat into his leg but it didn't break. Bryce grimaced in pain and tossed the bat with frustration. It looked like it hurt really bad. Here's what it looked like:
Jordan Zimmermann Is Not Happy...Oh Wait, He Is!

This is how Jordan Zimmermann reacted to what he thought was a double, ending his no hitter with 2 outs in the 9th inning...
Ian Desmond Attempts To Block Umpire's Throw
DC Sports Nexus ---- Thursday, September 25, 2014
During Thursday afternoon's ballgame against the Mets, Ian Desmond was upset about a strike two call earlier in his at bat and decided to give the umpire some guff. Check it out as Desmond tries to do a basketball blocked shot as the ump attempts to throw the baseball back to the pitchers mound between innings. LOL:
Bryce Harper Walks To First, Matt Williams Mad, Nobody Else Cares
DC Sports Nexus ----

Here is how Bryce Harper reacted to hitting an easy pop fly to the outfield on Thursday. If you recall earlier in the season he was benched by Matt Williams for reacting not quite as badly. Uh, I guess oh well. Playoffs! There was no aftermath. See the GIF:
15 Nats Clinching GIFs That Will Make You Smile
DC Sports Nexus ---- Wednesday, September 17, 2014
Here are a bunch of awesome GIFs from the Nationals celebrations last night after clinching the NL East Division Title. You've got hugs, high fives, screaming, dancing, yelling, toasts, smiles, crazyness and more. Check em' out (give them a minute to load I screwed up the sizes).
Adam LaRoche Almost Kills Ian Desmond
DC Sports Nexus ---- Tuesday, September 9, 2014
This is why I never stand out in the on deck circle. Adam LaRoche was batting against the Braves on Monday night and on the first pitch his bat slipped out of his hands. The bat went flying towards the backstop/dugout/on deck circle and crashed into the netting only feet away from teammate Ian Desmond. Here is what that looked like.
Doug Fister Is Not Coming Out Of This Game Matt Williams
DC Sports Nexus ---- Monday, September 8, 2014
On Monday night during the Nats win over the Braves, we saw Matt Williams do something that I don't think we've seen from him the entire year. With starter Doug Fister in somewhat of a jam in the 7th inning with 2 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd (and a 1 run lead), Williams walked out to the mound. As the fans saw this happening they began to give Fister a standing ovation (and this NSFW sign) for his great performance. Then, all of a sudden, after a word or 2 with Fister, Matt Williams turned right back around and into the dugout with Fister remaining on the mound. Here's what that very brief meeting on the mound looked like.
Yesterday's Dodgers vs Nats Game, GIF'd
DC Sports Nexus ---- Wednesday, September 3, 2014
It would take 39 blog posts to describe what happened during last night's Nats 14 inning victory over the Dodgers. So we'll just let these GIFs do the explaining...
Denard Span: The Shrug, The Chicken & Waffles, The PED Test
DC Sports Nexus ---- Tuesday, September 2, 2014
Denard Span has transformed into Barry Bonds. Well not quite. But the Nationals outfielder has hit 3 homeruns in his last 5 games including a 2 HR game on Monday night in LA against the Dodgers. Span took Roberto Hernandez deep twice in the ballgame. When the game was over, a Nats victory, all of the talk was about Span's recent surge of power. Here is what Denard had to say about where his power came from (unlikely restaurant chain), and what he expects MLB officials to do to him tomorrow. But first, the Michael Jordan shrug:
The Jayson Werth 3 Point Basketball Helmet Shot, Latest Nationals Celebration
DC Sports Nexus ---- Saturday, August 23, 2014
The Nats are having some serious fun right now. And with that fun comes new ways to celebrate homeruns. The classic Gum Showers and Hugs & Low Tens that made 2012 such a fun year have moved on, but leave it to the Nats to think up some fresh celebrations as they push towards the playoffs in 2014. Their latest celebration? The Jayson Werth 3 Point Helmet shot. Check out these GIFs:
Washington Nationals: A Different Hero Every Day
DC Sports Nexus ---- Thursday, August 21, 2014
The Washington Nationals have done something pretty darn amazing. The Nattys have won 10 games in a row, which included 5 walk off wins in just 6 games, a feat that has only been done a few times in the history of Major League Baseball. The cool part is that this is a total team effort, and every walk-off had a different Nationals hero. Here is an epic GIF showing all those heroes.
Bob Carpenter Wants Nothing To Do With FP's Scorecard
DC Sports Nexus ----

During Wednesday night's broadcast, Bob Carpenter was showing off his world famous "free" Bob Carpenter's Scorebook (learn about that here). Well FP decided to get the FP "remedial" Scorecard into the shot, and Bob was not happy. Carpenter called it "bush league" grabbed FP's scoresheet, and chucked it back at Santangelo.
After that happened FP was sure to let the fans know that the scorebook is free once again...

2 Marlins Slide Into Same Base At Same Time
DC Sports Nexus ---- Wednesday, August 28, 2013
Here is something you don't see every day. It is two players on the Miami Marlins sliding into third base at the same time from different directions. The Nats Ian Desmond goes for the double tag, but can only get the runner returning to third out in time. GIF:

Steve Lombardozzi Steps Up With Espinosa Out
DC Sports Nexus ---- Friday, May 24, 2013
Steve Lombardozzi was fired up after his bit 3-4 night, a game which he started after the Nats learned that Danny Espinosa has a broken wrist. Lombo had the clutch hit in the ballgame, a 2 RBI double to bust open the lead for the Nats. The Nationals went on to beat the Phillies 5-2. After the game Julie Alexander suggested that Lombardozzi untuck his shirt, and he did...with some authority. Here are 2 LomboGifs:
Astros Lose To Pirates On Error

Since nobody else seems to be doing this well, here's the Astros colliding on an easy popup, dropping the ball, and losing the game:
Strasburg Picks Up Zimmerman, Serious Natitude
DC Sports Nexus ----

On Thursday night, Ryan Zimmerman committed his 8th error of the season, a bad throw to 2nd base that allowed a runner safe and loaded the bases with Stephen Strasburg on the mound. In Strasburg's previous start, a Zimmerman error visibly rattled Strasburg who went on to allow 4 unearned runs after the E5. The fans & media crushed Strasburg for his "mental" flaws.
Thursday's result was different. After the error, Strasburg looked over and nodded at Zimmerman who nodded back telling Zim not to worry about the error because he would pick him up. And Strasburg did just that. While one Padres run did score, Strasburg escaped the jam, and went on to pitch his longest outing of his career in his first win since opening day. The Split Screen GIF of the exchange below.
