Unfortunately for Nationals fans, this season the Nats clinched their division championship on the road. While the team celebrated in Atlanta, fans celebrated all across the DMV, but it just wasn't the same. Fans wanted to show the team in person how they felt. So that is probably why there were dozens of fans waiting outside of Nats Park for the team to arrive home from their road trip on Sunday night (after sweeping the Marlins).
