Denard Span & Bryce Harper Collide

The following image shows Denard Span & Bryce Harper colliding in the 11th inning of the Nats Friday night loss to the Phillies. Span clearly was screaming / calling for the ball and as the left fielder Harper should have yielded to the center fielder. The 2 base error (charged to Bryce) was pretty costly and basically led to circumstances where the Nats lost the ball game. Take a look.

And while none of these errors technically led to runs, it shows the mindset of the Nats who have 18 errors in 18 games.  An error a day keeps the championship away. It may be early in the season but the Atlanta Braves just laid an ass-whooping on the Washington Nationals.  The Nats could only manage 4 hits for the 2nd straight day, and were shutout by the Atlanta Braves 9-0 giving them the series victory on a sweep.  Gio Gonzalez had his worst outing of the season and the offense made Braves starter Paul Maholm look like Nolan Ryan. (Although Maholm hasn't given up a single run all season!)
