It may be early in the season but the Atlanta Braves just laid an ass-whooping on the Washington Nationals.  The Nats could only manage 4 hits for the 2nd straight day, and were shutout by the Atlanta Braves 9-0 giving them the series victory on a sweep.  Gio Gonzalez had his worst outing of the season and the offense made Braves starter Paul Maholm look like Nolan Ryan. (Although Maholm hasn't given up a single run all season!)

Gio pitched just 5 innings for the second straight start, giving up 7 hits and 7 runs while striking out 3.  He stood on the mound and watched as two of his mistake pitches were drilled over the fence.

The bullpen has been working hard lately, Zach Duke eating up 3 innings but giving up another 2 runs of his own.  Clippard, Soriano, and Storen all got the day off and should be ready to go for the Marlins.

Davey Johnson took advantage of the blowout situation to give a little rest to some of his everyday starters.  Chad Tracy, Steve Lombardozzi, Tyler Moore, and Roger Bernadina all made an appearance in the game.

Suzuki continues to hit well going 2 for 3 and picking up half the Nats hits on the day.  Lombo & Tracy got the other 2 hits off the bench.

Ryan Zimmerman had another throwing error, his third straight, one each night against the Braves.  The last series that Zim had 3 errors?  You have to go back to mid 2009 in a series against the Marlins.

Espinosa left the game after getting hit on the hand with a pitch.

The Nats try to get back on track against the Miami Marlins who they swept to open the season...
