The Nats followed up a big blowout 10-3 win against the fish with a belly flop on Tuesday. The Nats offense had 8 hits but had trouble stringing anything together. Three straight doubles by LaRoche, Moore, and Lombardozzi plated 2 runs, but that was all the scoring the Nats could muster.
Dan Haren was pitching a solid game before a Ryan Zimmerman throwing error (his 4th on the year and in the last 5 games) sparked a Marlins 4 run Rally in the 4th inning. The next inning Haren gave up 3 more runs and he was knocked from the game after just 4 1/3 innings. In that short time he gave up 7 hits and 7 runs (only 3 were earned...ahem Zimmerman). If you think about it, Zimmerman had more earned runs than Haren.
Haren's stats on the year so far in 3 appearances: 13 1/3 innings, 26 hits, 12 earned runs . That's almost 2 hits and 1 run per inning pitched!
Giancarlo Stanton was out for the Marlins but that didn't stop them from squashing the Nats. Miami had their best offensive night of the season with 11 hits and 8 runs. It was also the first time those stupid Pinocchio Dolphins jumped out of the water. Reminder, the now 3-11 Marlins.
The Nats try to get back on track tomorrow with a solid Ross Detwiler on the hill...
