Take Back The Series
DC Sports Nexus ---- Saturday, May 5, 2012
The Washington Nationals spanked the Philadelphia Phillies 7-1 behind a 15 hit offensive day to take home the series win. This is now the Nationals 8th series victory out of the 9 series they have played and the Nats have bounced back to win 5 straight games after a tough 5 game losing streak.
Gio Gonzalez rebounded from a tough game against the Dodgers in his last start. He finished 7 innings with 7 strikeouts, only 4 hits and 1 run, and a couple deep shots including a double. That 7 innings was huge after an extra innings game last night, bullpen got some rest.
Jayson "I don't give a F" Werth was the hero of the game with a 3 run home run and made the booing Philly fans swallow their boos. The Nats also got homers from Desmond and Tracy in the game.
The Nats have now gotten 29 combined hits in their last 2 games and players like Lombardozzi and Tracy are making an impact. This is the kind of offense that can help the starters coast.
Ian Desmond hit a home run, but he is constantly swinging for the fences instead of getting on base. As a leadoff guy you need to get on. I think the best move would be to have Bryce Harper lead off and get I-Dez in the 2nd slot when Morse & Zimmerman Return, but Davy wants Dez to lead off I guess.
I don't really like putting Bryce Harper in the 3rd spot at this point in his career. I think there is a little bit of pressure there. He still does get on base a lot and has drawn 4 walks in this series.
Nats go for the sweep on Sunday. An 8pm Nationally televised game. I may have to hit that up.
