Washington Nationals Bullpen Attends Caps Game, Caps Collapse, Gio Chooses Soccer

DC Sports Nexus ---- Saturday, April 13, 2013

A few Washington Nationals pitchers made the day/night baseball/hockey doubleheader on Saturday.  Tyler Clippard, Craig Stammen, and Drew Storen were spotted in a suite at Verizon Center during the Caps matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning following a loss of their own to the Atlanta Braves earlier that day.  The Caps were up 5-1 at one point, but you'll never guess what happened.

Much like the Washington Nationals bullpen on Friday night against the Braves, the Capitals blew a huge lead and were forced into a 5-5 tie. But unlike the Nats the Caps ended up escaping with a huge overtime victory.

On Friday night the Nationals took a 4-1 lead into the 8th inning before the trio of Caps spectators took the mound.  With Clippard, Storen, and Stammen toeing the rubber, the Braves scored 5 unanswered runs and shocked the Nats at home.

Looks like Clippard is having some fun.  He's got 3 empties next to him and a full beer in hand...lol...I'd probably need a few beers to get over the last two losses to the Braves. I just hope Storen doesn't get too wasted from those 2 Sierra Mists.

Meanwhile, across town at RFK, Gio Gonzalez was at the DC United game.
