Nationals 5, Mets 3
On the other side of the ballpark, a ballgame and a three run homer, lies a terrifying baseball story...
The Washington Nationals defeated the Mets 5-3 on Wednesday night at Nats Park to take the series from the previously hot NY team. The Nats remained in first place behind a huge effort by Adam LaRoche who had 4 of the 5 Nationals RBIs.
LaRoche hit a big 3 run homer in the first inning after yet another error by the Mets kept an extra runner on base. The runs put E-Jax in a great position to remain calm and pitch his game.
Edwin Jackson had a great night pitching 7 strong innings and giving the Nats overused bullpen a nice night of rest. E-Jax gave up 2 earned runs (the 3rd was his own error) on 3 hits and struckout 6 Mets. Four Walks and a bad 2 base error pickoff play were the only reason the Mets offense had opportunities.
Burnett in the 8th, Clippard in the 9th for his 5th save. See...You...Later
The Nats offense had a good night with 9 hits which really helps the pitchers. Every time the Mets would get a run, the Nats would come right back with a run of their own.
The struggling Zimmerman had a hit, Lombo/Harper each had a hit, and Morse has been getting back into form picking up another multi-hit night. Jesus Flores has had a hit in 12 of the last 13 games.
And your FP Santangelo moment came when the Nats announcer offered to rent a bus and give everyone a ride home during extra innings games if the Metro wasn't running. Who all is getting on that bus?
The Nats go for the kill tomorrow afternoon in DC, businessman's special 1:05 start time..."day game after a night game" as they say...
