Nats Tip In A Few, Pitching Shuts Out Marlins, W

DC Sports Nexus ---- Saturday, April 21, 2012

On Friday night at Nats Park the Washington Nationals shut out the Florida Miami Marlins 2-0 behind another great night of pitching.  If you don't like your team pitching well, then you don't like baseball.

Ross Detwiler picked up his 2nd win of the year after a 6 inning 3 hit performance featuring 7 strikeouts.  Enter Stammen, nada.  Enter Clippard, nada.  Enter H-Rod, game over.

The Nats could only muster 2 runs.  A homer by Ankiel in the 3rd and a semi-lucky 2 out run in the 8th.  On that particular play Chad Tracy beat out the final out at 2nd (and the 2nd baseman dropped it) and a runner scored from 3rd.

Rodriguez entered the game in the 9th to pick up his 4th save reaching 101 mph on one fastball strike.   However, Henry was a bit out of control throwing several pitches in the dirt.  He let the winning run come to the plate, walked 2 guys, and threw a wild pitch.  But a save is a save is a save.  Terrible expression.

Strassy hitting up the mound on Saturday...Nats look to win their 5th straight series...11-4...
