Nats Take Care Of Dre's

DC Sports Nexus ---- Thursday, April 26, 2012

Ryan Zimmerman got some bad injury news but The Washington Nationals defeated the San Diego Padres at Petco Field on Wednesday "afternoon" 7-2 without him. The Nasty Nattys have now won 6 straight series.

Zimmermann pitched 6 innings of 1 run baseball with 4 hits and 6 strikeouts.  Once again the Nats couldn't do much for him on offense, giving him only 2 runs.  And one of those runs was an RBI base hit by Zimmermann himself.  If you want something done right, do it yourself I guess.

After the Z-man left the game the Nats gave him 4 more runs in the next half inning.  The Nats continue to love saving their scoring for the late innings, against opposing team bullpens.  Imagine if they could hit the starters.

Gorzo came in to pitch the final 3 frames and somehow got a save.  I guess technically when he came in it was 4-1?  A 3 inning save.

Jayson Werth picked up another RBI on a bases loaded walk, his 2nd of the year.  LaRoche went 3 for 4 with an RBI and continues to be one of the only Nats to drive guys in.  Maybe they should play Gorzelanny more often, he was 1 for 1 with an RBI.  Why are the pitchers driving in runs?

The Nats go for the series sweep Thursday night at 10pm.  Then they head up to LA for their first real challenge of the season...R-Zim could be heading to the DL tomorrow...
