Kerry Wood & Carlos Marmol: A Nats Best Friend

DC Sports Nexus ---- Sunday, April 8, 2012

The Nationals picked up another late win against the Chicago Cubs after Kerry Wood & Carlos Marmol blew the game for the second straight game.  The Nats won 7-4 and the offensive hero on this day was the same guy I was crushing after last game, Adam LaRoche.

LaRoche went 4 for 5 and jacked a 2 run shot off the foul pole.  Chad Tracy also came up big for the second straight game with a big base hit.  Espinosa went yard too.

The Nationals were very excited to pick up Gio Gonzalez this season but the new Nat didn't make it out of the 4th inning.  As Davy J took him out he looked at his manager like "are u serious bro!".  The bullpen came in and did their job, not allowing the Cubs to get another run.

Clippard picked up the hold and Davy went with Henry Rodriguez to pick up the save.  H-Rod walked a guy but struck out the other three with his 100 mph fastball leading the way.

Down 2 in the 8th inning the Nats batted around lighting up Wood & Marmol.  Both of those guys have only retired 3 batters, have allowed 3 earned runs each and have an era of 27.  Wood got the loss and Marmol got the blown save...interesting.  Last game was the reverse, Wood blowing the save and Marmol getting the loss...double interesting.
